This calculator illustrates what training focused on anticipation, observation and action can mean in practice.
It does not rely solely on incidents that have already occurred, but estimates the impact of a single situation, the exposure level of the operating environment and the organisation's readiness to act before escalation.

Estimate what a single poorly managed situation may cost if it causes delays, additional work, investigations, absences or other visible harm.
Operating environment exposure
Describes how much uncertainty, interaction pressure, lone working, mobile work, conflict situations or other factors increasing risk surface exist in the work.
Current level of preparedness
Describes how well early signs are noticed, whether staff dare to intervene, whether they know how to act and whether operations stay controlled under pressure.
How strongly does training improve performance
Describes how much training realistically strengthens anticipation, observation, early response and clarity of action.
If a situation escalates, how widely can the impact grow
In some environments, impact remains more localised. In others, the same situation can spread more broadly across time, people, shifts, customer work or workflow.

Basis of calculation: The calculator does not look solely at incidents that have already occurred. It estimates what a single situation may mean, as well as how the operating environment and level of preparedness affect it.
What the calculator is based on: The calculator combines two components: a direct reduction in impact and a separate readiness value that represents the benefit of behavioural change before visible incidents occur. The approach follows the Kirkpatrick–Phillips framework: training → behaviour change → performance change → financial impact. The cost of training does not affect the benefit estimate — it only appears in the net benefit.
Note: The calculator provides directional guidance on what this may mean in an organisation's daily operations. Actual impact depends on the operating environment, current level of preparedness and how well what is learned translates into everyday practice.
